We are open Monday to Saturday through to the end of October. We are closed on Bank Holiday Mondays.
Sidmouth was described by John Betjeman as "a town caught in a timeless charm" - and it's easy to see why. With its royal connections, elegant historic architecture, spectacular coastline, beautiful beaches, and colourful gardens, Sidmouth has something for everyone.
Located in the heart of the town, Sidmouth Museum offers a fascinating journey through the area's rich history and heritage. Housed in a historic building, the Museum features two floors of beautifully curated displays and exhibits, bringing to life the stories of Sidmouth and the Sid Valley through the centuries.
The Museum is owned and managed by the Sid Vale Association and is run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers. Whether you are a local resident, a first-time visitor or a regular holidaymaker, we look forward to welcoming you and helping you discover more about Sidmouth's unique history and heritage.
Love history? Enjoy meeting and chatting to people?
Sidmouth Museum is looking for friendly volunteers to join our team (April-October). Whether you can spare one morning or afternoon a week, several days a week, or more, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
Volunteering at the Museum is a rewarding way to meet new people, learn more about our local history and heritage and become part of a welcoming community team.
If you are interested, please email museumvols2@gmail.com, or visit the Museum and leave your contact details with us.
